After several weeks of So Much Tiny House Goodness and the Lucky Penny’s Public Debut last week, I have other exciting news to share!
Yesterday Guillaume Dutilh and Jenna Spesard of Tiny House, Giant Journey have posted a video tour of The Lucky Penny, my tiny house on wheels. For all of you eagerly anticipating a peek inside my house after months of cheering me along during my build, this is your chance to come on in and look around (albeit virtually!)
You’ve got to check out the Lucky Penny Video Tour if you’d like to see:
- how I make a tiny table with the cutting board and a drawer,
- or how my windowseat bed pulls out into a full-size bed with a skylight view of the rain and shooting stars,
- or where I hid Raffi’s litter box
And, of course, if you’d like to actually come on in to have a cup of tea and see what it feels like to be inside, you can schedule a Personalized Lucky Penny Tour through Niche Consulting.
Also, I’m thrilled that Anita’s tiny house Lilypad has also been featured in one of Jenna and Guillaume’s tiny tours. It was such an honor doing concept design work with Anita. She is one of the most thoughtful and intentional people I know, so it was a delight helping her come up with the big ideas for her wee home. Her builder Walt Quade of Small Home Oregon did an excellent job bringing the design to life. Anita’s keen eye and her flair for Moroccan decor make this an incredible little house! Please do check out the Lilypad Video Tour, too!
Thank you so much for the Lilypad LOVE Lina and I can’t thank you enough for being with me every single step of this amazing journey of a really big tiny dream coming true!
Aww! Thanks so much, Anita! It’s been such a pleasure!
Congratulations on the lovely Lucky Penny! She looks so incredibly cozy and wonderful. I’ve always had a love for gypsy vardos and showmen’s wagons… your little home seems to be a combination of both. Bless the house!
Thanks so much, Diane! I do love my little house and yes, it is very inspired by gypsy vardos and showmen’s wagons. What’s the latest on your tiny house dream?!
We are still three people in the residence at this point, maybe going down to two at some point in the future. My husband is not open to the idea of a tiny, tiny house, but I think I can convince him to downsize once it’s just the two of us, at least into a small home.
I was so impressed by the video of your tiny home community too. Did you all buy the big house and property together?
Hi Diane! Yes, it’s tricky to convince someone to join a lifestyle that doesn’t appeal to them. But most folks have an easier time imagining it once they’ve had a chance to be inside a tiny house. Maybe you could plan a trip to stay in one! The property and the Big House are currently owned by one couple but we’re attempting to shift ownership to a collective. Lots of paperwork as you might imagine!
Yes, I bet it’s a bear to sort out co-ownership. I’m sure you are familiar the national co-housing association, which might have resources for this type of transaction. The property with all the trees is amazing. My husband and I used to share an apartment about the size of a Tumbleweed Cypress, but it had tall ceilings. He is 6′ 4″ and just not enthused about tiny house ceiling heights, which I totally understand. : )
Dear Diane,
Yes, it’s certainly a process. We are familiar with the Cohousing Association, too. Thanks!
Oh, and as for tall tinies, you might consider a longer and/or wider tiny so you don’t have to have a loft. The vardo style (like mine) often doesn’t have a loft if you want some inspiration for loft-free tiny houses. Also, check out Tall Man’s Tiny House: http://www.tallmanstinyhouse.com/
